As social networking sites like myspace.com become more and more popular on the Internet, the dangers that children face are growing to.

It seems as if it is a daily occurrence in the news regarding children freely roaming myspace with out any worries or concerns. This way of thinking needs to change and the best way to change it is from people like you, parents.

Parents need to become aware that social networking sites have its use online, but there are precautions that need to be taken so your children to not fall prey to the sexual deviants like child molesters, sexual predators, and online stalkers.

Perhaps your child is already aware of these types of things, or maybe they have already been approached by these kind of parasites. More often than not, this seems to be happening everywhere. Some children do not feel comfortable approaching parents because they might be embarrassed, or think they did something wrong.

It is your responsibility as a parent to educate your children about the Internet. Talk to them, let them know that they can and MUST keep an open line of communication with you about this kind of activity the second it happens.

When you do this, you have taken the single most important step with your child, that step is awareness.

In a perfect world kids will tell you everything that they do in their life, but this world is not perfect. Many kids won’t say anything even after you have explained how dangerous providing personal identifiable information on social networking sites like myspace.com can be. In fact, some children may even become rebellious and provide even more daring things that deliberately place them in extreme danger.

This is where SpectorSoft comes in. SpectorSoft was created because parents can not always be present when their children are online. SpectorSoft has two programs that will allow parents to secretly record all of the activity that their kids do on places like myspace.com. You can quickly and easily know if they are being approached by child molesters online.

We recommend eBlaster for parents that do not have frequent access to the computers their kids are using because they will receive detailed activity reports that contain email, chat, instant messages, web sites visited, and much more. All of this activity is sent to your email address. The application is so powerful that you can have email that has been sent or received forwarded to you the second they occur. Another great feature that eBlaster has is the instant chat forwarding. It works by recording any kind of chat conversation your child may be having and when the close the chat conversation, you will receive an instant transcript of that entire conversation.

For parents that do have regular access to the computer, Spector Pro is the perfect solution. You will be able to record the emails, chats, instant messages, web sites and just about any other thing that can be done on a computer. There are c couple of things that Spector Pro can do that eBlaster is not able to. For example, Spector Pro allows you to block web sites, chats, and Internet access.

Additionally, Spector Pro takes pictures of what ever is done on the monitor and you may play them back like you would a movie on a VCR. Spector Pro is also the only program that has received PC Magazines Editors’ choice award twice. Winning the award one time is a major accomplishment, but twice makes SpectorSoft the authority in computer tracking.

Many parents actually use both Spector Pro and eBlaster because they like to know what their kids are doing while they can not be with them, but also want to have the snapshot recording and blocking capability that Spector Pro offers. Having both running on the same computer is basically having every possible protective measure enabled to make certain that you are aware of your child’s online activity.

It is very important to know that there is not any single solution that will protect your child 100% of the time, but if you become aware of the facts, educate your children, and take preventive action by using a computer tracking software, you are taking steps in make certain they have a healthier online experience.

Have you ever thought to yourself, “What in the world are my kids chatting for hours and hours for?” If you are reading this right now, you may have. However, to answer that kind of question let’s take a deeper look at what kind of things that kid’s do online.

Chat and instant messaging is probably the most requested tracking feature for parents because they know that their kid is chatting away constantly. Over the years as chat and IM has increased among teenagers, chat blockers have not been able to keep up with the ever growing list of new popular chat services that are out there, thus causing the sometimes expensive chat blocker they have purchased to be nothing more than a resource drain on their computers because it is most certainly not doing its job. That is not to say that there are NO effective chat blockers out there, it is more so a statement that there is more to finding out what your children are doing online that just blocking a chat here and there.

Besides, wouldn’t you like to know what your kids are talking about, and more importantly who they are talking too? Of course you do, having the edge on what a teenager is up to can make a world of difference in their upbringing, so why not take advantage of every opportunity you have available to you.

If you have a chat tracking software installed, you will know if they are talking about doing drugs, skipping school, cheating on a school test, or maybe you will find out that your child is walking the straight and narrow, doing their schoolwork before they chat with their friends, helping a friend get off drugs etc..

When you don’t have a chat tracker installed, the fact is, you will never know and always be wondering what they are chatting about. Why waste your time wondering when you can find out now?

We have written an in-depth article with regards to chat tracking and what other kinds of things your child may be facing online. Please take a moment and read the following article.

Myspace Information for Parents

You have seen it in the News, Police, and School Administrators have picked up on the fact that sexual predators are lurking in the back ground on Myspace. They are reading the blogs that children are posting, viewing their personal pictures and even trying to make formal arrangements in person.

It is a great thing that law enforcement and education systems are finally starting to recognize the dangers that children are facing by being a member of places like Myspace or Xanga.

Schools are taking the initiative by blocking popular social networking sites.

However, Law Enforcement and School Administrators even acknowledge that blogging and thing of that nature mostly occur at home. This is why computer tracking software is necessary.

All it takes a child molester to find out what your child is like is as simple as a mouse click. They may be able to find out things like where you’re child lives, what they look like, where they go to school, who they hang out with, and several other personal information they should not be seeing.

That is a frightening thought, but it is happening every day.

There are several things that you can do to protect your children from child molesters.

1) Sit them down and have a one on one talk with them about the consequences they face by posting personal information online.
2) Ask them if they would walk up to a complete stranger and tell them their most personal thought. Of course they would not do that and they should understand that they are NOT as anonymous online as they think.
3) Ask them if they have ever been approached in any kind of inappropriate manner online.
4) Install computer tracking software that will track every move they make online.

The fourth protection measure can be handled two different ways.

You may not want to tell them about it because you want to find out exactly what they are doing when you are not around. Or you may have other reasons for not telling them that tracking software is on the computer.

However, some parents may want to let their children know they are being watched. There is nothing wrong with that either, it may show that you trust your child, but at the same time are not going to take any chances with their online safety. Also, telling them may actually make them think twice about what they do on the computer.

Regardless if you decide to inform your children or not, you really need to get a tracking software installed on the computer. One that will record what is most important to you. However, do not limit your tracking software to just one thing. If you do that, you may be missing a lot of information that could impact the well being of your child.

Find a computer tracking software that can at least record the following.

1) Email from places like Myspace, Hotmail, Yahoo, and SMTP/POP3.

2) Chat and instant messaging from the popular chat services like MSN, AOL, Yahoo, Trillian, MIRC, ICQ and java based chat.

3) A keystroke logger that tracks ANY key that has been typed (including passwords)

4) Peer to Peer Activity (Kazaa, Limewrie, Gnucleus just to name a few)

5) All web sites visited

6) ANYTHING else that can be done on a computer.

We have spent a long time finding the right computer tracking software and we have found one company that stands above the rest.

That company is SpectorSoft.

SpectorSoft has a complete line of computer tracking software that records EVERYTHING that is done on the computer that you need to monitor. Spector Pro would be the BEST solution for parents that have frequent access to their kid’s computers.

However, eBlaster may be more appropriate for parents that do not have frequent access to the computers that they are monitoring. eBlaster will record everything that is being done on the computer and email to you via activity reports.

Peer to Peer file sharing is a way that people exchange files among other people that are part of the same network. There are several popular P2P application out there, the most common are Kazaa, Gnucleus, and Limewire.

You have more than likely heard the stories about parents being sued by the music industry for having illegally downloaded music stored on their hard drives. In most cases the parents never even knew that it was happening. Because the music industry can not tell if it was downloaded by a child or an adult, they will go after the parent and they may pay thousands of dollars in fines.

That’s not all that kids are getting from Peer to Peer software, they are also able to download pornographic images and videos. This should be a serious concern for any parent as it is very easy for a child to download any kind of pornographic material they want. In fact it is so easy for children to find it that they only need to type in what they are looking for and click find.

Pirated or Illegal software downloads are also very popular among adolescents. Think about it, if they do not need to buy something that they believe they can get for free, which one do you think they are going to try and get? Much like illegal music downloads holding the parents responsible for their children’s actions; the software industry feels the same way.

One thing that happens more often than not with regards to ANY of the P2P applications available is that you think your downloading something like a music file, but it is actually disguised and a virus. When something like this happens it can bring the computer to a crawl, and also take up a lot of your bandwidth.

Peer to Peer file sharing networks have become so popular that many Colleges and Universities have banned them from being used on the network.

SpectorSoft understands that technology changes on a daily basis and has made sure that they stay on top of what the latest trends in computing are. Because of this, SpectorSoft has incorporated an advanced Peer to Peer Tracking tool in to Spector Pro.

You will know what Peer to Peer application was used, who used it, what they downloaded, what they were searching for and the EXACT time it was used. If they download an illegal MP3, pirated software, or even a virus, you will know.

It is time that you take back control over your computer and the BEST solution is Spector Pro.

Web Site Tracking Software

Web site activity is one of the most common and worrisome issues facing parents. If you have the Internet, you deal with this no matter what. Kids are very advanced with regards to surfing the web, in some cases they may be ahead of the curve that parents are.

When the Internet started and people were “getting online” it was really simple to fish out the web sites that you did not want your children to visit. It was as simple as getting a web filter that blocks out bad words in the domain. A domain is a web address, for example

http://www.computer-tracking.com

is a domain.

That worked for a little while, but the pornographic web site industry knows that there is big money to be had, so they started to make web sites that more often than not, have little to do with adult based content. Now more than a decade later, it is almost common place to search for just about anything and see an adult website in the listings.

Filtering software does not provide very much online safety any longer because the porn industry is constant getting around the filter library. Also, filtering software often falls short on being able to block and record other popular teenage computer activities, such as chat, email, or blogging.

If you want to know what web sites that your children visit, you need a web tracking software.

Don’t settle for one that only records web sites and nothing else either. There is much more that children do online besides web surfing.

SpectorSoft has a complete line of tracking software that will track web sites, email, chat and instant messages, blogging, files downloaded through Peer to peer application like Kazaa, and much more.

In fact, SpectorSoft has been the ONLY Company that has received the Editors Choice Award from PC Magazine TWICE, in 2002 and 2004. Considering that the experts at PC Magazine believe that Spector Pro is the tool of choice for Parents to track the activities of their children, you can not go wrong.

SpectorSoft is also that ONLY Company that has a technical support department via email and telephone 7 days a wee, 24 hours a day. It is very rare for a website tracking Software Company to have a phone number let alone technical support 7 days a week.

All web sites that are visited will be tracked, and time stamped. You will know who went to the web site and how many times they have been there.

As a parent it is your responsibility to make certain that your children are safely surfing the Internet, and Spector Pro will help you by keeping track of every web site they visit.

Another popular service that Myspace provides is chat. It is known as Myspace chat and kids love it. The reason they like it so much is because they can quickly and easily have an instant conversation with anyone they want.

What makes this unique in comparison to other messengers, is that you may choose chat rooms by category. For instance you may choose to join a chat room by age. Interestingly enough, the feature to chat by age, starts at the age of 20 and above, yet Myspace Members can be a 14 year old.

The chat room may be intended for adults, but children do go to these rooms. What makes matters worse is that other people in the chat room, may want to view the child’s blog and they can use that information to strike up a private conversation with a child.

This can be a very dangerous situation and it is something that many children will never willingly want to discuss with parents.

Enter Computer Tracking Software

If you have a child that uses myspace chat on a regular basis, you need a computer tracking software that can record myspace chat.

Spector Pro is an award winning tracking software that can record all activity that your children may be doing online. This also includes Myspace Chat. SpectorSoft knows that you can not always be present at the computer when your children use it, and we help bridge that gap by providing effective tools to parents that will track anything that their children do online.

Making a web site is simple now that Blogging has made its way on the Internet. In fact, if you are reading this right now, you are reading a blog. It takes about five minutes to have a blog up and running and it is free.

People can use a blog for many different reasons, for instance we use a blog as a method to inform parents with effective methods with regards to protecting their children online. Others may use it so they can meet new people and make a date, and then there are some that use a blog to post their deepest and most personal thoughts and feelings.

Children widely use a blog for the purpose of an online journal.

We can all remember what a diary meant to us when we were children. We used to keep it so secretive that it was under lock and key from parents.

Now that time has changed and everything is digitally involved to a certain extent, children use the internet as a place to post just about anything that comes to mind.

It is one thing to blog a journal, but it is another to provide personal information for everyone to see.

Think about it for one second, if a child has an online diary and they are posting their likes, dislikes, who they are and where they live there is an immediate danger that is present.

Example:

Lets say that your daughter has a blog on myspace and she has been posting about how she likes Johnny from Science class. She even talks about how she would like to talk to him about how she feels, but she is afraid to make the first move.

This is online for anyone to see.

Now lets say that that journal entry is read by an internet predator. The Internet predator decides to become a member of Myspace.com and starts to read your daughters entire blog. Finally after calculating his moves carefully, he decides to have a Myspace chat conversation with your daughter.

He tells her that he is Johnny (the one she really likes) and that he like her too and he wants to meet her in person tonight. Your daughter is overcome with excitement because her dream is coming true.

That was only an example, but I think that we can all agree that those kind of thing can and do happen on a regular basis. You need to talk to your children about this as soon as possible. At the same time, explain to them that this kind of stuff happens regularly. Ask to see his or her blog. Find out what they are talking about because if they have a blog that provides any kind of personal information, they are subject to hundreds of internet stalkers just waiting to seize their next victim.

As stated previously, we used to keep our diaries under lock and key, so it would only be fair to assume that your children may feel the same way.

In cases like that, we recommend that you use a computer tracking software that has the ability to track all Myspace activity. Spector Pro is the only myspace blog tracking software available. You will know everything they have been saying on myspace.com. You will see every blog entry and know exactly when they did it.

Spector Pro also has a key word alert system that sends email notifications directly to you when a keyword has been used in any fashion. These alerts can be set up very easy and if anything from that example has happened, and you were to use the keyword (myspace), it may be enough time to save your child.
While there is nothing wrong with social networks link Myspace or Xanga, there are not any age restrictions in place. This means that children age 14 and up may talk freely and openly with any person that decides to talk with them. The may exchange emails, pictures, and even chat within the myspace network.

Considering that the minimum age requirement is that of an adolescent, it is very unsettling to know that they may be chatting with adults.

Adults that you do not know.

Think about it, what purpose does it serve an adult to have a conversation with children if they have no other affiliation than Myspace? It serves little in the way of purpose and in some instances, could cause life threatening instances with your child.

Children love the Internet and they will continue to do so, but without any kind of tracking in place, you are taking huge risks with your child’s well being.

If you do not use computer tracking software you may never know what your child is doing on the computer. Within these Myspace profiles you may provide what ever information you like.

Information like Your name, age, picture, hobbies and links to their blogs, which seems to be a popular thing among children because it is like an online journal. An Internet predator can use this profile to find out your child’s name, what their favorite things to do are, and what your son or daughter may look like. This is a dangerous thing that children are doing and have no idea that it can cause serious problems.

What can you do?

As a parent, you can do several thing to protect your child. Some children may not be as receptive to sharing blogs, and the other things they may be doing on Myspace and that is why computer tracking software is vital to protecting your child.

Computer tracking software is an application that will track and monitor various Internet activities.
